Welcome to the Calligraphy and Tiles Gallery.
Many of these calligraphic originals are referred to as tiles because of the use of blocks of walnut and colored ink as a background for the art. They are on fine art paper, mixed media, and use the written word as subject matter. The lettering may or may not be legible, as it the textural dynamics of the art that is the dominant element enriching the painting or quotation. The contemporary abstract layering and use of resist is common in Paschke's work. Many include touches of 24k gold leaf to make the quotations sparkle. Many of the sentiments and quotations are of Zen origin and patterned from the I Ching.
