Welcome to the Leaf and Bamboo Gallery.
Leaves of all kinds abound. Bamboo leaves, floral leaves, banana leaves, grasses - and everything in between. Leaves have been painted as abstractions and realistic, gilded, cut out and gessoed. They have been painted on rag paper and mulberry rice papers using black and gray sumi inks, rich brown walnut inks and Chinese colors. The original leaf art in this gallery are an eclectic collection of everything from minimalist traditional sumi-e painting to contemporary abstract. They are shown in a variety of color and metallic finishes as washed brown, antiqued silver and gold, and aged highlighted copper bronze.
Most of the larger images have been painted as pairs while the smaller pieces work well as sets of two, three, four square, or nine. The bamboo and scroll inspired panels may also have been posted in the Asian and Licensing Galleries.
