Welcome to the Abstract and Contemporary Gallery.
The original art in this gallery features contemporary and collaged calligraphic themes and numerous Asian inspired pieces using calligraphy as subject matter as one would paint flowers or a landscape. They are dominantly mixed media using gesso, handmade paper, Chinese watercolors, gold leaf, fabric, and calligraphy as textural elements. There are also layered quotations of traditional and abstracted contemporary lettering written in gouache. Other images resemble landscapes through the application of mottled and washed colors accented with layered black sumi paintings and colored over paintings applied as collage. Though any one may be displayed alone and is a completed fine art original, many have been created in pairs or sets to better fill a wall.
